Distinguishing Anionic Species That Are Intercalated in Layered Double Hydroxides from Those Bound to Their Surface: A Comparative IR Study

نویسندگان

چکیده

Guest molecules in layered double hydroxides (LDHs) may be located both on the surface and interlayer gallery. In this work, a comparative study of various IR spectroscopic methods coupled with X-ray diffraction (XRD) is presented, which makes it possible to distinguish between two possibilities. During experimental first, CaAl-LDHs intercalated nitrate/carbonate ions were transformed d-gluconate- benzoate-containing solids. Depending initial ion, organic end up layers and/or LDH. The spectra specimens recorded by using four different techniques, are their penetration depth (photoacoustic spectroscopy (PAS), attenuated total reflectance (ATR), diffuse (DRIFTS), wide angle (WA-DRIFTS)). By comparing obtained, anionic species that adsorbed LDHs proven distinguishable from those PAS shown provide information about interlamellar bulk compounds. screening could performed WA-DRIFTS technique, while ATR DRIFTS capable detecting anions residing top few layers.

Ab initio Investigation of Layered Double Hydroxides with Intercalated Herbicides

Layered double hydroxides (LDHs) or hydrotalcite-like compounds exist either as naturally occurring minerals or as synthesized materials by low-cost synthesis methods. LDHs consist of positively charged metal hydroxide layers having the composition [M1–x Mx(OH)2][Ax/m ·nH2O] where M and M are divalent and trivalent cations, respectively. The value of x is the molar fraction and can vary between...

Interlayer Structures and Dynamics of Arsenate and Arsenite Intercalated Layered Double Hydroxides: A First Principles Study

In this study, by using first principles simulation techniques, we explored the basal spacings, interlayer structures, and dynamics of arsenite and arsenate intercalated Layered double hydroxides (LDHs). Our results confirm that the basal spacings of NO3-LDHs increase with layer charge densities. It is found that Arsenic (As) species can enter the gallery spaces of LDHs with a Mg/Al ratio of 2:...

Controllable Nanocage Structure Derived from Cyclodextrin-Intercalated Layered Double Hydroxides and Its Inclusion Properties for Dodecylbenzene

A novel nanocage structure derived from carboxymethyl-cyclodextrins (CMCDs) intercalated in layered double hydroxides (LDHs), whose gates can be controlled by the process of swelling/drying the CMCD-LDH, has been prepared. Furthermore, the extent of opening of this nanocage structure can be controlled by swelling in different solvents. Dodecylbenzene (DDB) as the guest molecule has been incorpo...

Molecular dynamics study on structure evolution of monocarboxylic acid intercalated layered double hydroxides

Hydrotalcite derived materials are considered to be promising candidates for solid sorbents for carbon dioxide capture at intermediate temperatures (250–400 C). The recently developed organically intercalated layered double hydroxide (LDH) shows a great improvement in carbon dioxide adsorption capacity compared to alternative sorbents. However, the molecular-scale structure of this new class of...

Photocatalytic O-2 evolution from water over Zn-Cr layered double hydroxides intercalated with inorganic anions

Zn-Cr layered double hydroxides (LDHs) intercalated with inorganic anions (CO3, Cl, SO4 and NO3) were synthesized by the co-precipitation method and the anion exchange process. The photocatalytic activity of the LDHs was studied by O2 evolution from aqueous solution of AgNO3 as a sacrificial agent. All the prepared LDHs showed photocatalytic activity under either UV and/or visible light irradia...
